The Diplomatic Academy of Vienna and the Embassy of Japan in Austria are pleased to announce a talk on

THE DEVELOPMENT AND NEW CHALLENGES OF REGIONALISM(S) IN ASIA

Mie Oba is currently Professor at the Tokyo University of Science, Faculty of Engineering, Liberal Arts Section, specializing in International Relations, Politics in the Asia-Pacific Region, Regionalism in Asia and Theories of Regional integration and regionalism. Her publications include:

  • “Asia as a multi-layered region: In search for co-existence in conflicts”,
  • “The Invention of the Asia Pacific Region: A History of Regionalism and Search for Identity by Japan and Australia as Liminal Nations”,
  • and the ASEAN Study Group Report “ASEAN’s External Relations and the Changing Regional Structure in East Asia: Can ASEAN Stay in the ‘Driver’s Seat’?”.
