Am Freitag den 5.02.2010 und Samstag den 6.02.2010 findet im Konferenzsaal I-010,
der Stiftung Universität Hildesheim,
Marienburger Platz 22, 31141 Hildesheim ein Symposium mit dem Titel "Zum Verständnis von Demokratie in Birma/Myanmar" statt.
Das Symposium besteht aus zwei Teilen. Am Freitag wird ein Podium mit fachspezifischen Beiträgen abgehalten. Vorstellung und Diskussion von Ergebnissen der Projektgruppen zum Thema "In their own Voice. Birmanische Äußerungen zur Demokratie" folgen am Samstag.

The Austrian Association of East Asian Studies (AAEAS) organises international summer schools in cooperation with renowned universities in Taiwan and Thailand. Programs are open to students of all nationalities and will be held in English.
The summer school program at the Sun Yat-sen University in Taiwan (14 August – 11 September) will focus on Economic Development in East Asia, Commercial Law, Political Systems of East Asia, and Social Changes in East Asia. The program hold at Thammasat University in Thailand (21 August – 17 September) covers aspect concerning the history of Southeast Asia, Thai Society and Culture, ASEAN, and Thai Economic Development.

Bambus, Blech und Kalebassen - Das andere Spielzeug. Sammlung Fritz Trupp
This exhibition is presenting over 250 items from the one-of-a-kind toy collection of the Austrian ethnologist Fritz Trupp. The items come from Africa, Asia and Latin America, and were created from everyday materials (natural materials such as bamboo or palm and ‘waste’ material such as plastic, wire or tin) by children for their own use. The self-made toys are shown within the context in which they were created and aim to highlight the creative potential of these young constructors and artists.
